I believe Alaska Airlines uses a similar method to train their call center staff. They teach tier one support staff how to navigate their public website to answer customer questions about flights, ticketing, and policies. Staff are teaching customers how to access needed information while assessing if customers should be escalated to the next level of support. This is ingenious!

Six weeks is an information dump, how much do they actually retain. It can also make the job seem over whelming. Small chunks over time makes the most sense.

We use our intranet (Sharepoint) to post policies, share job aids, and collaborate with coworkers. Although the intranet is a good repository of learning content, Seekers are continuously frustrated by its lack of organization. Content is only helpful if it can be easily found and applied. Fortunately, as we prepare for a Sharepoint upgrade, we have the opportunity to revamp the organization of the intranet and make content more immediately available to our Seekers.
